I can still hear the birds

When I hear the birds you know it is going to be allright
It's my blanket, my safety
The twitters and calls
The flight, the spread of wings, the swoosh
Break everything else but this I always find
The night of venom, it shall surely pass?
The birds are still hanging on the branches, I can still smell the grass.

  1. I went for a run on a dirt road, after weeks of self isolation due to Covid 19. I heard the birds then, and that was reassurance. Nature is intact , for now.
